The RR501 Transceiver picks up radio frequency signals from X10 wireless remotes like the MS14A motion sensor and KR19A Keychain remote.  It also reads signals sent over your existing home wiring, and sends them to all X10 modules connected via that very same wiring. No need to run new wires or costly cables.

The RR501 X10 2-Way Plug-in Transceiver Module is the base of an expandable system that allows you to customize the lighting and appliances throughout your home and however you desire. With modules like the LM465 Lamp module and AM466 Appliance module, you'll be switching lights, fans, decorative elements, televisions, and radios on and off without leaving your chair, getting out of bed, or before you even come in the door. Entertain instantly and with ease, with dimmed lighting, decorative lamps, music, and other elements that impress your guests and let you spend more time having fun and less fussing. Programed to wait until the electrical lines are clear to send signals, the RR501 Transceiver avoids the signal collisions that can sometimes occur with other models. It's perfect for when you need to cover a large area with multiple X10 transceivers. The RR501 Transceiver controls up to 16 sets of X10 appliances or lights per house code and features it's own built-in appliance module. It picks up signals from other devices, like the MS16A Motion Sensor, and can process signals from your macros, timers and other programmable events via the X10 computer interface. and features it's own built-in module similar to the AM486 Appliance module.
